Ganderbal, Feb 21 (KNO): In a bid to enforce road safety and discipline, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) of Ganderbal conducted a surprise checking operation on Thursday, leading to the seizure of 11 vehicles for various traffic violations.
The drive was carried out under the directives of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) and was led by MVD Inspector Manzoor Qureshi.
The operation, which targeted key areas in the district, aimed to curb reckless driving, overloading, and other traffic offenses that endanger public safety. Officials reported that the seized vehicles were found violating multiple traffic rules, including driving without valid licenses, improper documentation, and overloading.
Inspector Manzoor Qureshi as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) emphasized the importance of such operations in maintaining road discipline and ensuring the safety of commuters.
“This is not a one-time drive but part of our ongoing efforts to enforce traffic rules and regulations. We will continue to conduct similar checks to ensure that drivers adhere to road safety norms,” he stated.
The MVD has urged drivers and vehicle owners to comply with traffic regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to safer roads. Officials also warned that strict action would be taken against repeat offenders.
